About me

JUDr. Ondřej Kmoch is an attorney and the founder of Kmoch Legal. He has been practicing law since 2004 and has been providing legal counsel to clients in both the private and public sectors for more than 20 years.

His practice focuses on contract law and legal support for business, with a strong specialization in IT, software, the digital environment, and AI. When providing legal services, he draws not only on a legal assessment of the matter but also on its commercial and practical context.

Ondřej graduated from the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague, where he later passed the state rigorous examination and earned the title JUDr. Even then, his rigorous thesis addressed legal issues concerning software, specifically the topic “Computer Programs as Works Created by Employees and Their Specific Characteristics”.

He further expanded his education through legal courses focused on the Anglo-American legal system at the Institute for U.S. Law in Washington, D.C. In addition to his legal practice, he is also active as a lecturer and author.

He began his career at the Prague law firm Radvan & Co., where he gained experience primarily in the areas of civil and commercial law, corporate law, intellectual property, and real estate.

After passing the bar exam in 2008, he worked as an attorney in association with PRK Partners, where he handled large-scale projects primarily in the areas of commercial and corporate law, information technology, and intellectual property, as well as mergers and acquisitions and financing.

He subsequently spent more than seven years working with MT Legal, where he focused primarily on contract law, IT/ICT, and copyright law with an emphasis on software and related commercial and corporate issues. At MT Legal, he led the IT/ICT law team, which participated in a number of significant technology and e-government projects in the Czech Republic, with a combined value of tens of billions of crowns. From 2013 to 2016, MT Legal was repeatedly recognized as a recommended law firm in the field of IT law in the “Law Firm of the Year” competition.

Since 2018, he has been developing his own law practice under the Kmoch Legal brand, through which he provides legal services in Czech and English, primarily to companies and other clients in both the private and public sectors.

Ondřej has long focused primarily on contract law, IT and software, intellectual property law, the digital environment, and AI.
